Hundreds saddled up their iron horses on Sunday for an 80-mile cruise through the Litchfield hills in support of the men and women of America's military forces.
The "Support Our Troops Ride" motorcycle cruise to benefit the Pfc. Anthony D'Agostino Memorial Fund celebrated its third year by welcoming the American Gold Star Mothers foundation with more than 200 motorcycles and their riders.
"Every year, the cruise gets bigger," Deb Deloughery said while standing next to her scarlet red Honda Rebel.

Morgan Lucas grabbed his third win of the year and defended his NHRA Pacific Division Top Alcohol Dragster win for one year ago in this weekend's NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Cal-Steam/Kohler event.
Billy Wilson matched Lucas in defending his event championship in the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson. Wilson ran his '78 Kawasaki to a lap of 8.429 at 153.21 mph to beat Pete Miclette.
Pacific Division racers head to Auto Club Famoso Raceway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, Sept. 7-8.

Motorcyclists rev up to support fund for special children
Bob Smith supported the Middletown Elks' sixth annual Poker Run and Street Fair on Sunday because the event benefited local children with special needs.
Sponsored by Elks Lodge 2179, the charity event for special-needs children featured about 480 motorcycle riders who gathered at the Elks' parking lot at 251 Church St. for food, music and other fun activities. The daylong event started around 9 a.m. with riders from all parts of Monmouth and Ocean counties taking part in a poker run. The riders began returning to the lodge around 2 p.m.

Festival's fans join in the fun
The city centre came to a standstill as the crowds packed the streets, many huddled under umbrellas to watch the 32nd Festival Cavalcade.
Organisers blamed the weather for reducing the audience numbers to half last year's total, but they were pleased it failed to stop tens of thousands flocking to watch the festival season come to life yesterday.
Dozens of police motorcycles kicked their engines into life and started the parade to resounding cheers from the crowd. They were followed by around 80 cyclists of TryCycling Edinburgh, Harley Davidson motorcycle riders and Scotia Wings.

Bradenton cyclist in fair condition after wreck on Skyway
Bradenton resident and Manatee County employee John Barnott, 55, was listed in fair condition today after being thrown from his 2007 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge late Sunday.
Initial reports from the Florida Highway Patrol that he had been knocked into the water were incorrect.And for two hours, state troopers had one southbound lane of the bridge closed to traffic. It was opened at about 10:30 p.m.

Bikers' rally was geared to families
This is turning into a big family reunion.
Although most attendees agreed it's the chance to ride bikes that attracts them initially, it's the familiar faces that bring them back year after year.
Attendees also sport a caring touch with a food drive in which attendees are asked to bring a canned food item for area needy. This year's collection will be donated to Harvester's food pantry in Kansas City.

Harley-Davidson names Puma exec to board of directors
Jochen Zeitz, the chief executive officer and chairman of Puma AG was elected to be
the company's board of directors, effective August 6.
In 1993, at age 30, he was appointed Puma CEO and chairman, the youngest chairman in German history to head a company listed on the German Stock Exchange. As chairman and CEO, Zeitz oversees international marketing, sales and operations.
Zeitz's election by board action to a term expiring in 2008 expands the Harley-Davidson board to 11 directors.

Motorcycles overflowed the parking lot of the Gowanda dealership Saturday for its 60th anniversary celebration.
Gowanda was opened in 1947.Sixty years later,it has developed a lot.
At the celebtration, many bikers enjoyed the delicious food and drinks, while recalling the important matters of the shop.
