An Odd Mix of Works, Channeling the Inner Wild
With a Harley-Davidson dealership around the corner and the beach two blocks away, what could be more relevant than a show about sticks and hogs?
In early July, Ronnie Jackson, a self-taught artist from Long Branch, walked in to show Mr. Ferrari his work. About a half-dozen of his pieces wound up in the exhibition. He carves surfboards, cutting away the foam core to create relief sculptures of Hawaiian-style beaches with palm trees, blue water and long, barreling surf breaks. He often leaves the fiberglass skin of the surfboard as an overhang to create a layering effect.

Oschersleben set to stage QMMF Endurance Race
As in every year, the 2007 Oschersleben 24 Hours will showcase a good number of German teams including one official team. 16th at the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours, BMW Motorrad Motorsport will be using two R1200Ss in the Open category.
Among the other peculiarities at this German race will be the sight on the track of the Harley Davidson VRSC RR of HD Racing Bonn as well as the two Super Dukes of the KTM Dealers team.

Harley Woos Female Bikers
Harley are in hot pursuit of female bikers.
“Fifty percent of the population is female and there is pent-up demand,” said James L. Ziemer, Harley-Davidson’s chief executive. “We need to remove barriers.”
So they are producing more motorcycles that are low to the ground — so women can plant their feet firmly at rest — with narrower seats and softer clutches, and adjusting handlebars and windshields to make bikes more comfortable for smaller riders.
Harley-Davidson has begun a Web site aimed at women (harley-davidson.com/womenriders) and is advertising in women’s magazines with a striking black-and-white image of a rider using the chrome plating on a bike as a makeup mirror.

Women are claiming an increasing share of the motorcycle market.
Women guiding their own motorcycles along streets and highways are increasingly common at the Sturgis motorcycle rally.
Steele’s first bike was a 1974 Harley-Davidson FXE Super Glide with a Shovelhead engine.

Dealership under new ownership, name
Rodney Cabaness and Shad Zimbro pose with a 2008 Screaming Eagle Ultra. The men have just bought Campbell’s Harley Davidson in Marion and reopened it under the name Black Diamond Harley Davidson.
The pair shared a dream of going into business with each other since they were in high school.
