From 1969 onwards, Harley-Davidson bikes, with outrageously swept-back handlebars and other innovations, became the ideal of young riders everywhere, though today they are bought mainly by wealthy middle-class enthusiasts who also like to be different. They too believe that, compared to cars, motorbikes in general offer more travel freedom, style and general accessibility-always assuming you can these days fork out between USD300,000 and 500,000 to buy and H-D, still the dream bike of riders around the globe who include basically well-heeled staid citizens.
In China, Harley-Davidson’s target customers and almost exclusively middle-class, enthusiasts in their 30s and 40s, who are well aware that the high price tag of their bike would comfortably buy a medium-priced BMW car. The follow-up cost of further out fitting varies considerably but can be several times the initial purchase price.

Hot cars, bikes, ribs coming downtown


Festival will feature Ohio National Road Car Show, a motorcycle show with Harley-Davidsons, live music and a ribs cook-off.
The car show is open to any year and model and costs $12 for contest entry.
Mid-Ohio Harley-Davidson will display bikes, including the new Harleys, some vintage motorcycles and Harley products and collectibles.

If you think it’s just another Harley draw, think again

Langford Fire Rescue is selling tickets for a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail custom motorcycle, with the winning ticket to be drawn Sept. 9 at All Fun Recreation.
Ticket sales for the 1,584 cc, 96 cubic-inch cycle with a six-speed transmission valued at $26,000 are limited to 3,000 in total.
Although ticket sales have not been as brisk as past years, Zado said the aim, as was the case for the past three Harley raffles, is to sell out by the day of the draw.
